"A radiant horse, a contented horse, maintaining wonderful contact the entire time - exactly as we’d hoped. Wonderful rhythm. The trot sequence was a thing of beauty. Every stride was in perfect unison. The extensions, too - everything was in perfect time, without any sense of haste. A very beautiful walk sequence, moving beautifully through the body, and the walk pirouettes were absolutely flawless. In the canter, the changes were very secure, and the rhythm was truly excellent here as well,” commented Christoph Hess enthusiastically on the performance of Borghese MT NRW, who in December 2025 took third place in the final of the Nuremberg Burg Cup with a total score of 73.195 percent. In the winner’s freestyle, he was celebrated as the runner-up with 95.000 percent. Previously, under his new rider Kira Laura Soddemann, Borghese MT NRW had seized his very first opportunity at Horses & Dreams to qualify for the prestigious Frankfurt Final: with 75.244 percent and second place in the Prix St. Georges Special in Hagen a.T.W. The pair also shone in Ankum and Aachen with scores over 74 percent and two second-place finishes.

Borghese MT was trained by master rider and two-time Olympic champion Dorothee Schneider, with whom he qualified for the Bundeschampionat at his very first (international) competition as a five-year-old at the CDI at Gestüt Schafhof. As a six-year-old, he was unbeatable at the Whitsun Tournament in Wiesbaden, earning a dream score of 9.16 overall. “A true athlete who knew how to present himself perfectly here today,” commented international five-star judge Christof Umbach on behalf of the jury. The trot was “very beautifully cadenced, always engaged from the hind leg and already very well-supported” – 8.9. The walk moved confidently through the body and was diligent in the push-off (8.8). The real highlight was the canter: “Always with an upward tendency, always springing off the ground, balanced, and with plenty of power and ground coverage in the extended canter” - 9.3. A 9.3 was also awarded for rideability and a 9.5 for potential. In 2023, Borghese MT won four consecutive S*-level dressage tests on his debut in the advanced class.

Borghese MT NRW, who is part of the Westphalian Breeders' Association's sports promotion program, began his career at two and a half years old as the first reserve champion at his licensing.

His sire, Baccardi, was the premium stallion at his licensing and became the German and Westphalian Champion for riding horses at age three. At ages five and six, he placed in the finals of the World Dressage Championships and the German National Championships. Riding with the Russian Maria Klementieva, Baccardi went on to achieve success on the international Small Tour circuit. In addition to the Westphalian Reserve Champion Borghese MT, five other sons were licensed.

The dam Laura, herself a full sister to the licensed V.Laureus - who won bronze at the Westphalian Championships as a four-year-old and placed for Spain in the international Small Tour - also produced the licensed Barcadi is cooler (by Baccardi’s Best), Fursten-Air (by Fürstenball), who placed in the Young Riders Tour, as well as the two M-level dressage horses Boudih (by Belconi) and Fürstin Grace (by Fürstenball). Laura’s full sister of the same name, Laura, became the dam of the Small Tour horse Ferromir (by Feedback).

The dam’s sire, Laureus NRW, was the champion stallion at the 2001 NRW licensing. As a Warendorf state stud stallion, he competed successfully in international Grand Prix classes under Peter Borggreve. His son, Like a Diamond NRW, was the champion stallion at his licensing and competed successfully up to Grand Prix level under Marion Wiebusch.

Third in the pedigree is the NRW state stud stallion Ferragamo.
