Our home-bred Alvarinho GV is a true rising star - and the crowning achievement of Laura Strobel, who has trained this horse with its magnificent collection from the very beginning.
Even though he has competed in only a few shows so far, Alvarinho GV has already racked up numerous top victories. In February 2026, he turned his first starts in the international Small Tour at the CDI in Neumünster into a commanding one-two finish with scores exceeding 72 percent.
The year before, he secured his spot in the Nuremberg Burg Cup Final—and he did so in only his second-ever appearance in a Prix St. Georges. With a score of 74.585 percent and a commanding one-two finish in the qualifiers at the CDI Munich, he left no doubt about his exceptional talent. In the Frankfurt final, the pair once again delivered a fine performance, which was rewarded with a score of over 72 percent and fifth place. “Absolutely fantastic highlights, a great horse, great harmony, great riding,” commented Christoph Hess enthusiastically on the pair’s performance, which truly left nothing to be desired. With this, our Alvarinho MT is following in the hoofprints of his famous half-brother Augustin OLD, who, under Victoria Max-Theurer, won the Burg Cup Final and achieved many other successes.
In his first advanced (S) level season, Alvarinho GV 2024 immediately racked up victories on the international advanced (S) tour for young horses and continued his winning streak at the CDI Achleiten. There, he had previously been unbeatable in the five- and six-year-old classes and even broke the 90 percent mark. At the World Dressage Championships for seven-year-olds in Ermelo, Netherlands, he placed fourth in the Small Final, narrowly missing out on a spot in the Grand Final.
The sire, August der Starke OLD, won international Grand Prix competitions with Victoria Max-Theurer/AUT and sired, among others, Augustin OLD - who placed fifth at the European Championships and thirteenth at the Olympics - also ridden by Victoria Max-Theurer.
The dam, Jamaica, was a discovery at the 2012 Hanoverian Auction.
The granddam, St.Pr.St. Riva Bella, is a half-sister to Victoria Max-Theurer’s championship mare Blind Date (by Breitling W). The great-granddam Donnice also produced the internationally successful Inter II horse Lexus Gold (by Locksley II) as well as the Small Tour horses Fürst-Figo (by Fielmann) and Royal Princess of Black Diamonds (by Rubin-Royal).
The fourth dam, St.Pr.St. Petrouchka, is a full sister to the licensed stallion Placido. She produced the full siblings Donnerfee and Don Diarado (by Donnerhall), both of whom were successful up to Inter I level. From Petrouchka’s full sister, St.Pr.St. Granny’s Girl - who was successful in riding horse competitions - come the two Grand Prix stallions Donatello I and II, as well as the also licensed and M*-level dressage-successful Dorano M (all by Donnerhall).
Hanoverian mare line of Cadarina.
