Donauinsel GV won dressage tests for young horses up to elementary level with Yvonne Kläne when she was six years old. Afterwards, she won M* and M** dressage classes with Melanie Tewes.
In 2022 Donauinsel GV made her debut in advanced level dressage under Laura Strobel.
In 2010, the sire San Francisco OLD won gold at the Bundeschampionat for three-year-old stallions, with a 10.0 for the - according to the judge's commentary - "ideal uphill canter", a 9.5 for the trot, which was marked with "a lot of ground gain and crossing", the looseness and the harmonious presentation and 19.0 points by the foreign riders. The dark bay had already won the Oldenburg State Championship before. He made his debut in the advanced class at the age of seven and is successful internationally in the small tour.
The pinto color of the dam Die Bunte, who was one of the top offers at the Vechta Elite Foal Auction in 2008, comes from the dam's grandsire, Sambuco B.
From the dam's line come other sport horses such as the international show jumpers Aischa (by Arpeggio), Pinocchió (by Up to date), Ile de Didi and Iceman (both by Ile de Bourbon) as well as the licensed stallions Smooth Operator and Strahlemann (both by Sambuco B).
